Vision College in Jeddah - Department of Restorative Dental Sciences

The Department of Restorative Dental Sciences is one of three departments supporting the Dentistry program and the largest in terms of the number of subjects listed within each division that provides basic and advanced materials in the specialty of dentistry taught from the third to the twelfth level and includes the following divisions:

 

A. Division of Conservative and Esthetic Dental Sciences:

Members of the division teach and supervise pre-clinical and clinical training for the bachelor stage. The Division includes the following subjects:

 

    • Operative Dentistry: Concerned with diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of carious and non-carious defects
    • Endodontics: Concerned with diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of pulpal and periapical diseases
    • Dental Material Sciences: Concerned with teaching the properties of current dental materials and their clinical implementation

 

B. Division of Prosthodontics:

Members of the Division teach and supervise pre-clinical and clinical training for the bachelor stage. The Division includes the following subjects:

 

    • Removable Prosthodontics: Concerned with replacement of teeth and soft tissues with removable prosthesis
    • Fixed Prosthodontics: Concerned with replacement of missing teeth using fixed prosthesis
    • Advanced Prosthodontics treatment and Basic dental implants
    • Geriatric Dentistry

 

C. Division of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics:

Members of the Division teach and supervise pre-clinical and clinical training for the bachelor stage. The Division includes the following subjects:

 

    • Pediatric Dentistry: Concerned with the oral health of children
    • Orthodontics: Concerned with the basics of diagnosis and treatment of improper positioning of teeth and jaws

 

Vision:

The dental restorative department aspires to achieve the highest standards of vocational education and training in the field of dental education and raise the efficiency of the graduate to be one of the pioneers in the community.

 

Mission:

Training of graduates to provide high quality treatment for patients in the field of restorative dentistry, endodontic treatment, dental prostheses, pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. To increase the capabilities of dentists to conduct scientific research related to the development of dental instruments and materials, as well as instilling a spirit of social responsibility; all taking into account the religious and cultural principles of the Saudi society.

 

Goals:

    • Teaching students modern concepts in restorative and esthetic dentistry
    • Teaching students in order to acquire appropriate interpersonal skills and ethical values in the clinical practice of dentistry.
    • Providing restorative, endodontic, prosthetic, orthodontic and pediatric treatment services in our communities.
    • Cooperate with specialists in other disciplines to provide comprehensive treatment in the fields of dentistry when needed.
    • Providing oral health care service to the community and school students in awareness programs.
    • Encouraging cooperation between the members of the department and the various academic and governmental bodies in pursuing high quality scientific research.
