The first forum on training and education in mental health and addiction treatment, under the compelling theme of “Opportunities and Challenges,” was launched in Riyadh on December 25, 2024. The forum was organized by Eradah and Mental Health Complex in Riyadh, one of the key components of the Third Riyadh Health Cluster. The event was attended by the CEO of the Third Riyadh Health Cluster, Dr. Ahmed Al-Anzi, the Executive Director of the Complex, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ahmari, and experts and specialists in the field. This forum, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, represents an important step toward advancing training and education in mental health and addiction treatment. It aligns with the Eradah Complex’s significant efforts to enhance the skills of healthcare practitioners and is in line with the development plans of the Third Riyadh Health Cluster. The forum focused on addressing the challenges in delivering high-quality training and educational programs and exploring opportunities to improve the professional competence of specialists in this critical sector. The forum, a gathering of over 300 specialists, was a platform for in-depth discussions on a range of topics. These included enhancing the efficiency of training and education in healthcare, developing solutions and plans to improve the quality of training programs for professionals in mental health and addiction treatment, and exploring innovative approaches to address the challenges in this sector. Eradah Complex is recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as an accredited training centre for mental health and addiction treatment. It also plays a pivotal role in training students from universities and health colleges, including students from Vision Colleges. Over the past five years, more than 41,300 trainees have benefited from the programs the complex offers, underscoring its significant contribution to developing outstanding national competencies.
