Dentistry Program

First: Dental Program: 

Dental program aims to prepare graduates to participate in advancing health care in the Kingdom and fulfilling the actual needs of the labor market. 

General objectives of the program: 

1. Preparing specialized dentists with a high level of knowledge and skills to provide advanced dental care to improve patients’ quality of life. 

2. Qualifying specialists with motivation and self-continuous learning. 

3. Allowing the student to obtain comprehensive education on the concepts and applications of dentistry. 

4. Preparing active individuals in community service and developing scientific research to obtain integrated knowledge in the field of specialization. 

Academic degree awarded by the program: 

Bachelor’s degree in Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery. 

Duration and structure of study in the dental program: 

The study in the dental program will be over twelve (12) semesters, during which the student will finish 200 credit hours distributed among departments as shown in the following table:

Language of study in the Dental program: 

The official language of study is English. 

Graduation requirements for the program: 

The student is considered a graduate of the dental program to which he is enrolled, after successfully completing the graduation requirements, which are passing 200 credit hours and the compulsory internship year, provided that the general grade is not less than acceptable (D). 

Internship year in the Dental program: 

The internship year is a mandatory intensive training period for all students, the aim of which is to optimally apply the theoretical and clinical information taught during the university years. This year is a prerequisite for obtaining a license to practice the dental profession in the Kingdom. The training period is 12 months, which the student spends in the college clinics and training centers approved by the college, during which rotation is done between the different departments. There is a valid agreement between the Vision College and the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom represented by the ministry’s hospitals, to supervise the training during the internship year in cooperation with the college administration. The hospital administration evaluates internship students using the assessment form approved by the college and in conformity with the conditions of the Ministry, after which the student is given a certificate of passing the internship period. 

The internship trainee must undergo the examination of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties during or after the end of the internship to become a resident
